SFJFF pictThe San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (SFJFF) goes beyond a once-a-year film festival, as the title of the organization would suggest. SFJFF is a year-round media arts organization that promotes awareness, appreciation and pride in the diversity of the Jewish people. Their programs are designed to create community and strengthen consciousness of Jewish identity, history and culture.

SFJFF produces the first and largest Jewish Film Festival in the world that includes year-round screenings and events, an online shorts program, a New Jewish Filmmaking Project, and a Mitzvah series that provides free screening of Jewish films for seniors in nursing homes and at their summer festival.

Community Vision financial consultant, Lori Campbell, began working with the organization before she joined our team, and continues to work with them. “SFJFF is an organization I greatly appreciate and have been involved with for many years,” says Lori. “I did financial management consulting for them a few months before I joined Community Vision, and they chose to stay on as a client.”

For nearly three years, Lori has been working with SFJFF to help them become a stronger, more financially stable organization. Her consulting work consisted of three components: assist with FY 11 year-end close and preparation for the annual audit; meet with the Executive Director and Administrative Director to recommend best practices, policies and procedures for financial management, and develop formats for financial reports appropriate for the Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

“During this year’s film festival, SFJFF was able to integrate new procedures for petty cash and box office cash management, allowing staff to focus on films, filmmakers and the audience.  ” Lori says with a smile. “With more films, expanded venues and record attendance, this year’s festival was a resounding success.”
