The NSCF Performing Arts Program has provided technical assistance and grants to performing arts organizations for use acquiring and/or renovating mid-size, live performing arts facilities.

The program operated in the 9-county Bay Area and in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. Funding was made possible by a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

All funds from the initial capitalization of The Performing Arts Program Grant Program have been successfully disbursed.

Planning and Capital Projects

Planning Grants provided funds for costs incurred before buying, renovating, or building a property such as feasibility studies, appraisals, and environmental testing.

Capital Grants covered project-related costs for nonprofits buying or leasing space long-term, or renovating or building new space.

NCCLF awarded 10 capital grants totaling over $2.8 million, and eight planning grants totaling $315,000 through its NSCF Performing Arts Program. These funds helpled to create over 260,000 square feet of permanent space for nonprofit performing arts organizations. The grants leveraged over $126 million in additional public and private financing.
