Consulting & Grants
The focus of NCCLF’s Consulting Practice is helping nonprofits to use resources strategically: to align the money to the mission. Whether you are choosing a copy machine or planning the spaces in a new facility – every decision will either facilitate or hinder your nonprofits impact. The cornerstones of the Consulting Practice are the Fiscal Fitness and Facility Fitness programs. These programs offer a wide array of consulting services to help nonprofits better manage their finances and their facilities. The goal is to increase your nonprofit’s ability to align its money to its mission.

Fiscal Fitness Consulting
We offer two kinds of Fiscal consulting-quick, inexpensive answers to specific questions and more in-depth capacity building to help nonprofits transform ordinary financial systems into high-impact monitoring systems.
- Monitoring Systems Rebuild (MSR): An eight step consulting engagement where we work with your nonprofit to build the skills, systems, and organizational culture you need to monitor whether you are on track with money, goals, and time. At the end of this eight step engagement your organization will know What goals you are trying to accomplish, by When, for How Much money-and be able to monitor your progress throughout the year.
- Financial Check-Up: An analysis of your organization’s finances. We use four or more years of audited financial data to create a report that describes you current financial health, how you got there, and what the data predicts for your future.
Facility Fitness Consulting
We offer three kinds of Facility consulting-quick financial analysis, in-depth financial analysis, and coaching to help nonprofits make strategic choices about their facilities and their capacity to implement facility plans.
- Real Estate Development Process Coaching: Real estate projects are incredibly complicated and require teams of specialized professionals. But how do you decide who to hire, when to hire them, and how much you can afford to pay? NCCLF’s Coaching services will shepherd you through this process. Our consultants have years of real estate experience and will work alongside your team to ensure that you make proactive, strategic choices about your facility, your finances, and your real estate development team.
- Lease vs Buy Analysis: A quantitative financial analysis which provides you with the short-term and long-term financial effects comparison of leasing a facility versus buying the same a facility.
- Real Estate Project Options Analysis: A quantitative financial analysis which provides you with the short-term and long-term financial-effects comparison between two or more facilities.
- New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Analysis: NMTC’s can be a financially rewarding financing option-but not for all projects. This is a quick analysis to determine the financial effect of NMTC’s on your project and your organization.
